Two West Sussex men have been convicted after leading police on a high-speed pursuit before crashing their car. Footage released by Sussex Police shows the Mercedes G-Class trying to evade police by crossing a double junction at 60mph, three times the speed limit. Officers were called to the Preston Grove area of Brighton at around 1. The vehicle involved in the pursuit had already been involved in an incident days earlier, when it failed to stop for police in Crawley.
The vehicle was pursued and it made several turnings in the area in an attempt to evade police. It then accelerated on Harrington Road, across the double junction with Surrenden Way, at approximately 60mph. The speed limit is 20mph. As it continued onto Bates Road it clipped a parked Ford Connect van, causing considerable damage.
